Our Bike

We ride a Daisy Mayhem recumbent tandem, manufactured by Organic Engines in Tallahassee, Florida. We got an excellent deal on the bike through The Hostel Shoppe. It was a demo model that we picked up at a reduced cost. It features:

Deore LX brake levers and calipers

Sachs Grip Shift shifters

Deore LX front derailleur

Deore LX rear derailleur

Sugino XD 500 crankset

Shimano UN52 bottom bracket

Shimano HG-60 11-30T 8 spd. cassette

24-38-50 triple chainring

Shimano 500 hubs

Sun Rhino Lite rims

Avocet Cross 26" rear tire

ACS R.L. Edge 20" front tirer

We feel that our bike is an excellent performance oriented machine. The fit and finish of the bike is comparable to or better than the "Big Two" recumbent tandem manufacturers (RANS and Vision), for a much more reasonable price. Although we have mid-grade components on our bike, the Daisy Mayhem comes standard with Ultegra level components for significantly less than either the Screamer or the Double Vision. As we live in Texas, we appreciate the full mesh seat- it dries out quickly and doesn't hold body heat. The bike has a frame geometry similar to the Double Vision, with high bottom brackets, but the weight (appx. 45 pounds) and handling are similar to the RANS Screamer. If you are considering purchasing a tandem recumbent and would like more information about the bike, or would like to look ours over in the Austin, Texas, area, feel free to contact us!
